The highly anticipated return of India’s star batter in the T20I format, Suryakumar Yadav could be postponed as he looks to make a full recovery from a sports hernia surgery with his progress being closely monitored by the National Cricket Academy (NCA)
According to a report by PTI, it is reported that the batter could miss out on a few more games in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But the positive news is that the ace batter is already advancing on his road to recovery.
The report has quoted an anonymous source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which stated,” Surya is making very good progress and very soon he will be back playing for MI. However, he might have to sit out for a few more games, having missed the first two”.
It is suggested that the board give more importance to the Indian international being fully fit for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United States of America and the West Indies in June, later this year.
The Mumbaikar had been out of action ever since he injured himself on the field during India’s tour of South Africa.
“For BCCI, the main concern is if he is on course for World T20 which he is. Obviously, he will play for MI but after a sports hernia surgery, he can’t be rushed”.
MI have certainly missed the services of their best batter as the side has gone on to lose the two games they have played so far. The first was an away game against the Gujarat Titans where the side led by Shubman Gill picked up the win by six runs.
