‘Tried to Stick to my Pace and Aim at Stumps’, Says LSG Seamer Mayank Yadav After Sensational Debut Against PBKS

Lucknow Super Giants registered a 21-run win over Punjab Kings at the Ekana Sports City on Saturday.LSG managed to put up a total of 199/8 in 20 overs before limiting PBKS to 178/5 thanks to an inspired performance with the ball from debutant Mayank Yadav, who snapped up three crucial wickets to clamp down on the Punjab batting order.

The 21-year-old, who thrilled fans with his incredible pace, was presented with the Man of the Match award for his three-wicket haul as LSG picked up their first win of the season.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the youngster revealed that he was feeling nervous ahead of his debut.“Never thought it would be such a good debut. Was nervous before the match,” the seamer began.

The pacer also expressed that he thought about using slower deliveries to deceive the batter, however, opted to stick to his fast rippers instead.“Tried to stick to my pace and aim at the stumps. I was thinking about using slower ones initially, but stuck to the quick ones,” he revealed.Yadav broke the 102-run opening stand with the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow, as the seamer removed the Englishman for 42 off 29 deliveries.

He expressed his delight with the scalp and how good it was to make his debut at such a young age.“The first wicket was special. It’s good to debut at such a young age,” the 21-year-old continued.

The pacer went on to add the scalps of Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma to complete his three-fer and helped the Lucknow unit register a win in front of their home fans.

“Had a few goals, but can’t help if injuries come in the way,” he concluded.

LSG climbed to fifth place in the table with one win in two games, while PBKS sit sixth with one win in three games thus far in the competition.
