Former India pacer Zaheer Khan felt that Jasprit Bumrah was in the league of his own after the latter’s spell against Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League. Playing at the Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah stood head and shoulders above the rest, picking up a 5-wicket-haul after giving away just 21 runs. Bumrah’s performance was class apart as most of the bowlers in the game went for runs and a lot of it.
“You see the execution of those yorkers, the execution of those slower ones, and the chat that he had with Sanjay at the presentation shows how much time and energy he puts in, in terms of understanding the situation of the game, what is the conditions that he is playing in and the kind of batters that he is bowling against. He also tries to be realistic about how others are trying to anaylse him,” Zaheer Khan said on Jio Cinema.
Jasprit Bumrah spoke to Sanjay Manjrekar and revealed how he would take lessons from his bad days, saying he would sit and analyse videos of his bowling and try to improve with every matchday. The India pacer was adjudged the Player of the Match for his sensational spell of 5 for 21 in 4 overs on a day when every other bowler was taken to the cleaners. RCB posted 196 on the board, but MI chased down the target with 27 balls to spare as RCB bowlers were sent on a leather hunt. Bumrah’s new-ball partner in the Indian team, Mohammed Siraj, conceded 37 runs in 3 overs.
“In this format, it is very harsh for the bowlers. I try to not be a one-trick pony, I have worked on this early in my career,” Jasprit Bumrah said, sharing pearls of wisdom to young bowlers.
