Plays 100 days, up for each of them: Cummins on Kohli

Written by Rohit Pawar

Pat Cummins heaped praise on Virat Kohli for being ‘super competitive’ on the field. On Thursday, April 25, Kohli and Cummins will come face to face when RCB and SRH lock horns in Match No.41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Kohli is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament, having racked up 379 runs from 8 matches at an average of 63.16 with a hundred against Rajasthan to show for his efforts. Although RCB have been far from their best, winning only 1 out of 8 games, Kohli has been on top of his game.

“My favourite memory of Virat… can I say whenever I get him out? Someone who has played so much cricket, I admire how much he gets out of the game, gets into the contest whether he’s batting or field,” Cummins told Star Sports.

“He plays 100 days a year, and he’s up for every single one of those games. So, we are both super competitive,” he said.

“I think off the field, Virat is very relaxed, and I am pretty relaxed off the field,” Cummins added.

As far as Cummins is concerned, SRH bought him for INR 20.50 crore in the auction that took place last year. Having not captained a T20 team, there were doubts about his captaincy. However, he has led the Sunrisers with pride and dignity. Under his leadership, SRH have emerged as a fearless unit.

With 5 wins from 7 matches, the Orange Army are strong contenders to make their way through to the playoffs. They will be brimming with confidence after beating Delhi by 67 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In 7 games, Cummins has taken 9 wickets at an economy rate of 8 and is the second-highest wicket-taker for his team.
