Former India opener and KKR mentor, Gautam Gambhir, opened up about Virat Kohli’s reaction to their much-talked-about embrace that stole the show during the game between KKR and RCB earlier in the IPL 2024 season. The duo from Delhi recently made the headlines and, for all the good reasons, this time with a brilliant display of bromance and camaraderie between them.
Gambhir and Kohli buried the hatchet in IPL 2024, much to the disappointment of quite a few in the cricket fraternity. The World Cup-winning opener added that there are ways to positively paint a picture about his equation with Kohli, lashing out at the hype and media attention on it.
“It is all about TRPs. Media has no clue what kind of person I am, or what kind of a person Virat is. All the media wants to do is create hype. But hype can also be created in a positive way,” Gambhir told Sportskeeda.
Gambir’s comments come after Virat Kohli played down the heated rivalry, saying people were disappointed as the ‘masala’ was over for them. The clash between KKR and RCB was one of the most anticipated clashes of the season as Kohli was going up against Gambhir once again. Tempers flared last year as they were engaged in an on-field spat when Gambhir was the mentor of Lucknow franchise. “I absolutely second what Virat said. Logon ka masala nahi mila toh (The gossip bit is over for people). As I said, when two people are mature enough, I don’t think anyone has got any right to interfere between two people’s lives or their relationships because ultimately, it is between the two of them.”
