Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) top brass and officials Yesterday (May 3rd) attended former board president Thilanga Sumathipala’s 60th birthday celebration, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Sumathipala, who is also a politician, was barred from Cricket in 2019, by Sports Minister Harin Fernando. Sumathipala, however, is also been regarded as a visionary president, who brought sponsors and upgraded Infrastructure at grasroot level.
On his birthday, the notable SLC attendants were – current president Shammi Silva, 1996 World Cup winning legend Aravinda de Silva, Vice President (domestic cricket) Ravin Wickramaratne, Treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyada, CEO Ashley De Silva, COO Jerome Jayaratne, former secretary Mohan de Silva, Upul Bandara (marketing head), Chandima Mapatuna (Incharge, International Cricket), Kamal Dharmasiri, Nuski Mohammed (former Board treasurer), Lasantha Wickramasinghe (former treasurer).
Pakistan legend Wasim Akram also attended the birthday party, who was in Sri Lanka, to conduct a two days training program for national players, SLC High Performance Coaches and major club coaches.
