Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has reportedly decided to continue with National Team Head Coach Chris Silverhood post the T20 World Cup, Cricket Age reliably learns.
After Sri Lanka’s early exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup in West Indies, it was widely speculated that Silverhood will be shown the doors. However, as India are scheduled to travel the Island in July, SLC opted to continue with him for the high profile series and beyond. Maitland Place top brass opines that Silverhood is on right track to deliver the results for the national side.
“For India series, it’s an obvious decision (to persist with Silverhood), as it’s around the corner. His contract will come up for review before national team leaves for England” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.
India’s tour of Sri Lanka consists of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. With Gautam Gambhir is certain to take over as team India new coach from Sri Lanka series, many fringe players are expected to make a cut in the new looking T20 squad, while for ODIs, a full strength team is expected to pick.
