Pakistan will bring back the ODI tri-series format next year as they prepare for the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board announced a busy home season schedule for the team and it will feature an ODI tri-series involving South Africa and New Zealand in February 2025. Pakistan begin their home season against Bangladesh with a two-Test series and also take on England and West Indies in Test series at home.
Pakistan’s home season will feature seven Tests between August 2024 and January 2025. Four matches, including the final, will be played in the tri-series involving South Africa and New Zealand.
Pakistan also have a busy away season where they will travel to Australia and Zimbabwe for ODI and T20I series. They will also tour South Africa for an all format series, which will also feature the Boxing Day Test.
After the home Test series against West Indies, the focus will shift toward preparing for the Champions Trophy.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that hosting as many as five top international teams before the Champions Trophy highlighted their standing in international cricket. Pakistan have the hosting rights for Champions Trophy 2025, which will be played from February 19 to March 9. The PCB even slotted the marquee India vs Pakistan match for March 1 in Lahore, but they are awaiting the BCCI’s nod for sending the Indian cricket team to Pakistan.
