Galle CC to felicitate SLC president Shammi Silva and Dilith Jayaweera

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva, Treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyada and Country’s leading Business Tycoon Dilith Jayaweera will be felicitated by the Galle Cricket Club at Water Edge Link hall tomorrow (25 July), Cricket Age reliably learns.

The grand ceremony is organised by the Galle CC president Charles Silva and club’s Executive Committee.

The Initiative is motivated by SLC top officials unparalleled support in transforming the club as a leading outstation cricket hub. During Charles Silva’s first tenure, a gymnasium and practice wickets were built, while a new ground and a solar power project is in the pipeline, In the guidance of SLC.

SLC’s National Development Centre (NDC) head Kamal Dharmasiri will also be felicitated in the ceremony, while Island’s Sports Minister Harin Fernando, Galle District MP Wajira Abeywardana and Cabinet Minister Manusha Nanayakkara will grace the function as chief guests.

Last month, Charles Silva was elected Galle CC president uncontested for the second term. In his new committee, Thushara De Silva is elected as Vice President, while Ruwan Gallapthi as secretary. Jayaweera, a businessman turned politician, is also the patron of Galle CC.

Founded in 1876, Galle CC has produced legendary players like Romesh Kaluwithrana, Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekera.
