Galle CC crowned Tier ‘B’ Three-day Cricket Champions

Galle CC led by Buddhika Hasaranga emerged champions of the Tier ‘B’ three-day cricket tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

The tournament was played with the participation of 12 teams, where the champion team was decided by calculating the bonus points obtained in the matches held with each team. Accordingly, at the end of the tournament, the Galle CC claimed the title with 8 outright wins. They have obtained 134.555 bonus points to take the title, with wins against Leo CC, Malay CC, Old Dharmapalians CC, Lankan CC, Kandy CC, Sebastianites CC, Air Force SC and Navy SC.

Galle CC skipper Buddhika Hasaranga led from the front scoring 504 runs in 19 innings while Right arm Offbreak Rajeewa Weerasinghe scalped 63 wickets. Chanaka Devinda with 59 wickets and Ushan Manohara with 21 wickets wee also the star performers for Galle CC.

The club was coached by Hasitha Rajapaksa, while club president Charles Silva, Secretary Ruwan Galappaththi, Manager C.K Hewamanne, cricket secretary Gayan Sameera, assistant coach Salinda Ushan and trainer Manuka Gunaratne also played a pivotal role in title triumph.

The second place of the Tier’ B ‘ tournament was won by Leo Cricket Club who got 129.685 bonus points and the third place went to Malay Cricket Club who got 117.705 bonus points.

The bottom 4 teams in the points table of the tournament will lose the Tier B category next year and the relegated teams were Kandy, Lankan, Air Force and Old Dharmapalians.
