Harry Brook has claimed that he knew a return to form was just a matter of time for him after scoring a match-winning knock of 87. Brook’s knock in the 4th ODI follows his hundred in the 3rd match that saw England start their comeback in the series. This helped England put on 312 runs in 39 overs, as the match was reduced due to rain.
Australia would eventually get bowled out for just 126 runs inside 25 overs, meaning that the series is levelled at 2-2 at the moment, heading into the final game. Brook told that he had been playing well all summer and just needed everything to click and the last couple of games has been really special for him.
“It felt like only a matter of time for me,” Brook told reporters.
“I feel like I’ve been playing well all summer, everything just needed to click. The last couple of games for me have been really special.”
Brook also said at the post-match presentation that it is always nice to be scoring runs as it makes you think clearly.
“It’s always nice to be scoring runs, you think a bit more clearly when you are playing well,” said Brook.
England bowlers bowled beautifully
Brook heaped praise on his bowlers and claimed they bowled beautifully on the day. The England stand-in skipper also praised Jofra Archer, who picked up 2 crucial wickets in the form of Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell.
“They (England bowlers) bowled beautifully. On an interesting wicket, we got a few too many over par but they bowled beautifully, they smashed the lengths beautifully and they got the rewards. He (Jofra Archer) was bowling quick tonight as well, it was good to watch with a bit of swing and seam movement, hopefully we can see that a lot more going forward,” said Brook.
England and Australia will square off in the final game of the series on Sunday, September 29.
