Simon Katich calls Mohammed Siraj dumb, slams pacer for brain-fade against Travis Head

Former Australia batter Simon Katich didn’t minced his words on Mohammed Siraj’s poor bowling against centurion Travis Head on Day 2 of the third Test match between India and Australia at the Gabba.

Katich lost his cool at Siraj after the pacer failed to bowl to his field and kept targetting Travis Head with the short ball, despite India not having a deep third man guarding the boundary line. As a result, the batter was able to cut Siraj and hit him for multiple boundaries.

Katich aggressively criticised Siraj for failing to bowl to his field.

“That is unbelievable from Mohammed Siraj. Because the over before he had a man right in that spot, and he’s run in and bowled what they were planning without the fielder there. That is dumb. Dumb cricket,” Simon Katich said on the Channel 7 broadcast.

“They’ve got two men out on the leg side, they’ve got a deep point, they had a man right in that spot for this very plan to Travis Head, and then he doesn’t have the fielder,” he further added.

Travis Head and Steve Smith punished India and scored twin centuries on Day 2 of the Brisbane Test match. Australia were able to close the day at 405/7 in 101, scoring at a brisk run rate. While Siraj picked up one wicket of Pat Cummins late in the day, Siraj gave away 97 runs from his 22.2 overs in the game so far.
