The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is set to be held on Friday (December 20), Cricket Age reliably learns.
According to sources, President Shammi Silva led SLC administration is all set to table certain amendments at the EGM, which Includes bringing down the membership votes. Appointing an Election Committee for the next year’s Board AGM and providing equal infrastructure to all the clubs are also in the EGM’s agenda.
Currently, Sri Lanka has 24 first-class clubs, with 147 votes, spread among the provincial and district cricket associations and the clubs, to select the administrators. Cricket Age understands that following the consultation with International Cricket Council (ICC), SLC to bring it down to around 60, which surely be a milestone step in Island’s Cricket history!
Ensuring the level playing field for all the membership and affiliated clubs Is also in EGM’s agenda. Accordingly, the clubs who plays lower grade cricket will also be provided the facilities and Infrastructure same as top tier clubs, in order to enhance their competitiveness.
