The uncertainty over the venue of IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants continues with Sourav Ganguly now claiming that the fixture will go ahead as per original schedule and won’t be shifted to Guwahati. Multiple reports claim that the high-profile contest on April 6 between KKR and LSG in Kolkata is set to be shifted elsewhere due to Ram Navmi with the police reportedly informing Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) that they won’t be able to provide adequate security for the match because of the festival.
During an event in Kolkata, Ganguly, a former India captain and ex-BCCI president, cited the social media post of Kolkata Police to dismiss the speculations that the match will not be held at Eden Gardens.
“Just wait and watch what happens next. Have you seen Kolkata Police’s post yesterday? I don’t think the match will be shifted. And in the IPL, I’m supporting Delhi Capitals,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI.
“Kolkata Police is working on its deployment strategy for the match to ensure the safety and security of all,” the official was quoted as saying.
Via their official account on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, the Kolkata Police claimed that “misleading posts” are being circulated on rescheduling of the KKR-LSG match on April 6.
“Certain misleading posts are being circulated regarding the proposed rescheduling of the IPL match on April 6. Kolkata Police remains firmly committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. All deployment decisions are made with public safety as the top priority. Kolkata Police — With you, Always,” read the post.
