Rob Walter has resigned as the head coach of the South Africa men’s white-ball teams. As per a statement from Cricket South Africa (CSA), Walter put down his papers due to ‘personal reasons’. The Proteas are yet to name his replacement.

Back in 2023, Walter signed a four-year deal with the Proteas Men after replacing former wicketkeeper Mark Boucher. He was earlier set to be in charge for the Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 to be co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

“Coaching the Proteas has been an incredible honour, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together,” Walter was quoted as saying in a statement.

“The players, support staff, and the South African cricketing community have been fantastic throughout this journey. While it’s time for me to step away, I have no doubt that the team will continue to grow and reach even greater heights, Walter added.

With Walter as the coach, South Africa made their way through to the final of the Men’s T20 World Cup last year, where Rohit Sharma’s India beat them at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
