Prithvi Shaw-led India U-19 cricket team gave their fans a moment to cherish as the Indian colts thrashed Australia by eight wickets to win their fourth ICC U-19 World Cup. Wishes poured in from all corners as India left Australia behind to become the first team to win four U-19 titles. As the fans rejoined, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was quick to announce cash rewards for Rahul Dravid-coached ICC U-19 World Cup 2018. The Wall, however, has questioned the disparity over the amount given to him compared to other players and the support staff.
Dravid who was given an amount of Rs 50 lakh, questioned why each player was given Rs 30 lakh and the Indian board announced Rs 20 lakh award for the support staff.
“The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) on Saturday announced cash rewards for the victorious India U19 team that won the ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand after beating Australia in the final,” the BCCI announced in a statement, moments after India beat Australia by eight wickets at Tauranga in New Zealand.
Soon after India won the final match, Dravid once again highlighted the fact that even does he gets more attention for the team’s performance, it’s a support staff which puts in a lot of effort.
“It’s a bit embarrassing at times because I tend to get a lot of attention and focus, but it is really about the support staff and the quality of people that we’ve had. I don’t want to mention names but everyone in the support staff has put in a great effort. We do the best for the kids” he added.
